Careen’s Story: A Journey that proves opportunity builds leaders.

Caren’s journey with Tai began in November 2023 when she was invited for an interview to join the Tai Ambassadors program. She had been following Tai's work since her Form 5 year of studying and was always inspired by our impactful content and dedication to youth empowerment.

Careen says;

When I received the opportunity to interview, I felt both excited and determined to become part of their mission. In early December, I officially joined Tai as an ambassador through the American Film Series project, marking the start of an incredible learning experience. Her journey as a Tai ambassador continued.

As a Tai Ambassador, I had the opportunity to participate in organizing events at universities, which helped me develop various critical skills. These included planning, coordinating, organizing, teamwork, content creation, time management, and effective communication. I worked closely with fellow university students to ensure the smooth running of these events, fostering a collaborative environment. Beyond technical skills, the program strengthened my ability to network and connect with people from diverse backgrounds, which proved invaluable for both my personal and professional growth.

In July, the Tai Ambassadors program opened the door to an internship with Tai, where I worked as a Project Coordinator for the American Film Series project. This role allowed me to take on greater responsibilities, including leading project activities, coordinating with panelists, and honing my writing and leadership skills. It was a transformative experience that enhanced my ability to manage projects effectively and adapt to various challenges. I can’t wait to see my continued growth at Tai as I take on new opportunities and contribute to even more impactful initiatives.

Kijani Animation Featured in The Citizen.

At Tai we believe that powerful stories can inspire meaningful action. One of our proudest milestones has been the national media recognition of our environmental animation Kijani, which was featured in The Citizen, one of Tanzania’s leading newspapers.

The feature by Beatrice Materua a journalist from Mwananchi Communication Limited, highlights how Kijani is using storytelling and animation to spark conversations around climate change and environmental conservation, while amplifying the voices and potential of young people in shaping a sustainable future. Developed in partnership with the Embassy of the Netherlands in Tanzania, the animation demonstrates how locally rooted stories can connect communities to global environmental challenges in a way that is relatable, inspiring, and action-oriented.

This recognition represents more than media visibility it is a testament to the impact of creative education in advancing climate awareness. Through the Kijani initiative, we have been able to reach young audiences with engaging content that encourages them to understand environmental challenges and take part in protecting their communities and natural resources.

Being featured in The Citizen marks an important milestone in our journey to use animation, storytelling, and youth engagement as tools for social and environmental change. It reinforces our belief that when young people see themselves reflected in stories of innovation and resilience, they are empowered to imagine and build a better future for their communities and the planet.

Alina's Journey with Tai: A True Definition of "Passion Knows No Borders"

Travelling 6,000 kilometers from Germany to Tanzania as an international intern, Alina's journey with Tai has been nothing short of inspiring. With a deep passion to create impact in society, Tai quickly became her second home.

As a way of giving back to the community, Alina actively engaged with beneficiaries in schools both boys and girls educating them about climate change through the Kijani project, and promoting menstrual health and hygiene through Oky Tanzania.

Connecting with youth, hearing their perspectives, and immersing herself in a new culture made her fall even more in love with Tanzania and its people. She is determined to use the skills she has gained to help advance the community even further.

Alina carries countless memories back home close to her heart from her time with Team Tai. From love and laughter to bold ideas, knowledge, and even enhancing her Kiswahili, this experience has been nothing but the best of the best.

The Power Of Education through our Scholarship Program.

Emmanuel Boniface's story is a testament to the transformative power of equitable education. Graduating from Mongola Secondary School, Emmanuel's journey with Tai began in 2017 when he was selected as a beneficiary of their scholarship program supported by the Kipaji Foundation.

From Form 1 to Form 4, Emmanuel excelled in his studies, thanks to the support and opportunities provided by Tai. With their help, he was able to access quality education that would have otherwise been out of reach for him. This education not only changed the trajectory of his life but also opened up a world of possibilities for his future.

Currently studying at Ustawi College in Dar es Salaam, Emmanuel is determined to continue his education and make a positive impact in his community. In the last year, he had the opportunity to intern with Tai, gaining valuable experience and skills that will serve him well in his future endeavors.

Emmanuel's commitment to giving back to his community is truly inspiring. He continues to volunteer in different projects with Tai, ensuring that the impact of equitable education reaches even more individuals like himself. Through his hard work and dedication, Emmanuel is not only changing his own life but also the lives of those around him.
