A lasting impact through our Education Scholarship Program.

Julius Solowa’s story is a powerful example of how sustained educational support can open doors to new opportunities.
Originally from Changarawe village in the Morogoro region, Julius grew up in a family dependent on hand-hoe subsistence farming. His partents’ income was barely enough to meet the household’s basic needs, making the cost of secondary education a significant challenge.

In 2019 Julius joined our scholarship programme which we developed together with the Kipaji Foundation Fund, at the start of Form One at Mongola secondary School in Morogoro. The Kipaji Foundation Fund supports students in Tanzania who cannot afford schooling until the end of their school careers, with education scholarships. Solowa received full sponsorship throughout his secondary education, including school fees, meals, stationery and uniforms.

His commitment to his education quickly became evident. In 2022, Julius completed Form Four with Division One (14 points), achieving the best result at his school. His strong performance enabled him to progress to Minaki Secondary School in Kisarawe, Pwani Region, where he was selected to study the PCB combination (Physics, Chemistry and Biology).
Throughout his time at Minaki, his sponsorship continued in full. Regular check-in visits were maintained, particularly because his family was unable to travel to visit him.

In 2025, Julius completed Form Six with another Division One result, marking an important milestone in his academic journey.
Today, Julius is taking the next step towards his ambition of becoming a doctor. He is currently applying for HESLB funding and university admission, with both outcomes still pending.

A lasting impact...
Julius has now benefited from six years of continuous sponsorship (2019–2025) across two secondary schools. His academic achievements demonstrate not only his own dedication and potential, but also the long-term impact that consistent educational support can have on a young person’s future.

He didn’t just profit from the sponsorship by himself. By the time he became very motivated to use his free time to teach children in his village that didn’t have any access to education. He developed from a student with a lack of access to a teacher.
