As the number of secondary school dropouts continues to rise in Tanzania, We are stepping in to help change the story. Through our Education Scholarship Program at Mongola Secondary School in Morogoro, we are ensuring that vulnerable students are not forced to abandon their education because of poverty. With the support of Kipaji Foundation, the program currently supports 30 students, while more than 100 students have already been supported over the years, with many advancing to higher levels of education and some reaching university. The initiative continues to demonstrate that when young people are given the opportunity and the right support, education becomes a powerful pathway to hope, opportunity, and a brighter future.

During Malala Yousafzai’s visit to Tanzania, we took part in a special event at Nias Nyalanda Arts Studios in collaboration with Msichana Initiative. Joined with girls from Kijitonyama Secondary School was a day filled with creativity, learning, and inspiration. Together, we painted a piece of art that told so many stories about girls in Africa, of their voice, empowerment and leadership ability we further engaged in meaningful conversations aimed at empowering young girls through education.
Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani education activist and the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize laureate, is globally recognized for her unwavering advocacy for girls’ right to education. Surviving an attack by the Taliban at the age of 15 for speaking out on the importance of education, she has since become a powerful voice for millions of girls around the world who are denied the chance to learn.

Her visit to Tanzania was a moment of inspiration and solidarity reminding our girls that their voices matter, their dreams are valid, and that education is the most powerful tool they can use to change their future. The event left the girls feeling motivated, confident, and ready to stand up for their right to learn and lead.
